hello
I just bought ASUS P5GD2 Premium, Intel Pentium 4 (3.6 GHz) and 1Gb Ram (correct type). When I put everything together I can get in BIOS without problem but when Windows is supposed to boot up I get the famous blue screen with "A problem has been detected and windows has shut down to prevent damage to your computer". So I tried booting up from WinXP Pro cd and reinstalling the OS. It loads the setup (little line at the bottom of the screen saying it's loading) but when it's supposed to start the setup I get the blue screen again. I even tried installing from CD with having only a new formatted HD connected and it still doesn't work. Can anyone help me ? Thanks |

No
If i try booting up from my original HD (one which has WinXP Pro installed) I get the blue screen. If I try booting up from the CD I get the screen on which one line says the setup is loading files but instead of giving me options like "on which HD you want to install" I get the blue error screen again. ![]() |

Believe it or not i'm having the same problem on 2 different computer. one is a p4, 2.8g with 512mb stick in it. i used to have antoehr 256mb in it but, i had this problem and thought it was one of the sticks of memory. so my computer worked fine with the 512. now it's having this problem again. the other is like p3, 450. it's also having the same problems. the 2 where networked at the time of the problems. i still having found a way to fix them. i've tried everything. even writting the 2.8g back to zero's. :-/

Have your hd connected to the Pri Raid and your cdrom connected to the blue ata controller. You must make a floppy that has the Ite8212 raid drivers on it from the moterboard cd (explore cd and then go to drivers folder and then the Ite8212 folder. Double click makedisk.exe. Then go into bios and set cd as 1st boot. When computer reboots hit F8. Make sure cd is the boot drive. Insert XP Pro cd and hit spacebar quickly when prompted to boot from cd. Then hit f6 quickly when prompted for special drivers. Insert floppy with raid 8212 drivers and continue installation. XP setup will continue to load. Leave the floppy in and it will load the drivers after you partition and format the drive. |
