boot, beep, but no video

for some reason this has been happening this past few weeks all of the sudden. the funny thing is if i reboot soon after, it acts normally.

if this helps: i have an amd 761 k7 chipset and the hex code on the mobo says "25" or "28" when it blank screen.

please help.

What model is your mobo? Do you have the manual? That would be where to look up the hex code (or google).

the mobo i think is epox k7
the manual didnt mention the code, i google and didnt get any luck there either.

im throwing a wild guess and say its the memory, but i have no proof.

To check the memory, download memtest86 and run it overnight (or until it finds errors).
Also, what are the full system specs? (PSU, cpu, drives, etc)

acutally i figured out now that it DOESNT post on bootup nor get a video signal, but after i reset it does (though sometimes it stops and gives a blank screen after post- when that happens the floppy runs incessantly).

spec (as far as i know)
amd athelon 1.5 ghz
1 gig of rdr ram (unknown brand)
15 gig maxtor hd (yeah its old)
i would think that video/sound is of little relevance.

ill try to run the memtest86 later to find out.
