Boot up problem, Please help!!!!

I got a BareBones AMD package for christmas, with ram and a HD and cd drive, etc. When i went to put it together, i found out some pins on the processor were bent, but that was after I put it in the MOBO and started it up. Nothing would come up on the screen. I sent the processor back to the company for a replacement, and got the replacement with no bent pins, and put it in the MOBO yet nothing still shows up on screen. I called a computer builder and asked him what he thought, he said it might be that the MOBO is shortted out. After I talked to him, i thought that the fans on the processor are working, and they are plugged directly into the MOBO, so it couldnt be shorted out, can it? what do you think might be the problem, and how could I fix it?

EDIT: I wanted to give more details...

-512 MB SDRam
-K8Upgrade-VM800 MOBO
-350 GB Seagate HD
-CD Drive
-DVD Drive
-Onboard Video
-Onboard Sound
I believe that is all...any other info needed, please post.

It's possible that there is a PSU problem, you would need to measure all teh voltages to be sure it isn't (or get another PSU to plug in), but it sure sounds like you have a motherboard and/or processor problem.

hope this helps

dude.. you may find there is a 4 pin socket on the motherboard, usually located in close proximity to the cpu, this MUST also be attached to the power supply. You may find this is the cure to all your ills with your motherboard. If you have already done this then i apologise as i have wasted ur time, if not then i hope this helps..

hey,
the computer got taken up to the store where we got it from, and found the the mobo was indeed shorted out. Luckily they gave us a new one for free, and while i was there i got a KVM switch so i can run a server and my gaming computer with one set of stuff. Anyway, now im having HD problems. Check the general hardware forum or w/e its called, im going to be posting my problem there.
