Cmos
Not sure if i'm posting in the right place, when i boot up my laptop which runs on Windows XP prof. i get this message
ERROR 0271:Check date and time settings WARNING 0251:System CMOS checksum bad - Default configuration used Press <F1> to resume, <F2> to Setup i press F1 and it continues to an invalid meassage where i hit OK then everything works fine except the clock is not right (unless i connect to internet) any help will be gratefully received |

You should press F2 and save the configuration. If the settings do not save then you have a flat CMOS battery and need to replace it or the CMOS chip is corrupt. On desktop PCs the CMOS battery is normally a lithium battery on the motherboard, on a laptop I wouldn't have a clue what it would be or where.

This is often the case, and laptops are same as desktop.
The problem is that it is very difficult to open the box and take it into pieces. Besides, the battery is possibly soldered. As you must have such a dexeterity, you'd better consult your friends or the maker (very expensive for only replacement of the battery). |
