I'm having the same problem except this is with a brand new PC that I've just finished building. I'll post what I know as well and perhaps we can both get fixed at the same time huh?
I have a Soltek SL-KT600-RL motherboard. Basically it begins to boot, is about to pass the POST stage and then either just goes off or resets and then shuts off after reporting that the CMOS settings are wrong. What is weird is that after this cut off the motherboard still appears to be powered. I've reset the CMOS a number of times which doesn't help. Sometimes I have to reset it just to get it to boot. There's not much else I can do. There's a video of my boot sequence here: http://members.lycos.co.uk/tw0flow3r/MOV00760.MPG I apologise for the quality. It's the best I can get since it happens so fast. Thanks for any advice or help. |

I hope you guys know that once you clear the BIOS all the settings have to be put back into the bios.
EG your cpu will revert to the boards default FSB which may be wrong, it will also go to a default vid card of a PCI instead of AGP etc etc etc, the date and time also HAS to be correct. Generally if done by the book your BIOS settings will be close enough to boot most all systems. Perhaps a silly question but, do the hdd's have working operating systems on them ? and are all the cables and jumpers correct on each drive. Boot sequences are pretty std, W2K and XP are usually set at CDROM first boot, HDD second, floppy third, W98 etc is set to boot from the floppy first then HDD then CDROM. With XP the HDD can be set to be first boot, it saves time in booting, but if you need to boot from the CD you will have to go back into the bios and change it. |

Yoyeah, you might have a heat-related issue. Check to ensure that all the fans are working, especially the Power supply fan and the CPU fan.
While you are in there, blow all the dust and crap out of there, especially off of/out of the CPU heatsink. Equalsk, your link doesn't work. I'm thinking there is a device conflict happening on yours, as it seems that the computer runs for a short time before shutting off, no? Check to make sure your drives have the correct Master/Slave settings, the connectors are well-seated and that your memory sticks are slotted appropriately. After that, I would suspect a faulty component; either PSU, memory, or motherboard/processor in that order. |
