Epox 8KRA2+ "C1" boot problem

Im having a problem booting my new Epox 8KRA2+ m/b.
It flashes up "C1" on the LED diagnostic display and then powers down.
The C1 refers to a memory problem

The m/b has been back to the suppliers who said there was nothing wrong with it.
They even pretested a new one and sent that to me, and that does exactly the same ..... C1 !!!!!

I have tried 3 sticks of memory, 512mb PC2700, 512mb PC3200 and a 256mb 266mhz. All 3 sticks of ram work in my older m/b.

I have also tried two processors, the XP2500 (which was bought at the same time as the m/b) and a XP2000 out of my other PC. Both processors work in the older m/b.

I originally has a 350W PSU, then i upgraded to a 450W to see if that made a difference........nope!

Ive had a GeForce2 MX400 in the AGP slot and also a older Matrox in a PCI slot.

I'm now at a complete loss to the problem.........

was going to check the manual for your board, but the link did not work for me, seems like you tried most everything, so just gonna do the checklist, have you tried the motherboard out of the case, tried it with only the ram processor and video card?
also try install everything the way you want it, unplug the power cord, use the cmos jumper to clear the cmos memory, boot, enter bios, set the clock load setup defaults? have you looked at the manual for motherboard jumper settings for clock speeds? since this is a multi support fsb it may have a jumper usually called a dram close to the ram slots that has to be set to the processor and ram speed.

Finally solvedthis last night.

It was a faulty CPU fan!

The monster 90 fan i bought with a the mobo and CPU has only the sense wire in the 3 pin molex plug. It draws its 12v from an inline connector.

Now when trying the sytsem with another fan with all three wires connected on the 3 pin molex plug, the mother board booted.
I then connected the monster fan back to the system and it booted fine for a bout 30 mins until it shut down and refused to boot.

Now im not sure if the problem lies with the fan itself or any fan with only the sense wire connected.

I bought my mobo a few months ago and got it up and running in less than an hour. I have 2 memory modules 256 mb pc3200, same brand. Amd processor 2.0 Ghz.
Nothing special. Only yesterday my mobo refused to start up, the message on the display was also "C1" . I did some switching with my memory modules in different banks but nothing worked. My cooler has been working fine for over 5 months and was succesfully running at startup, so i can't imagine that my cooler is the problem... maybe you've got the answer ?

I think that i know what your problem might be, it's a problem I've had in the beginning with this mobo. I've used a power supply with 400 watt, and this thing generates more than 1,83 ampere. That's just to much for these mobo's and when things get too hot, the mobo will automatically shutdown.

I think it's funny that the board posts a C1 problem when the cpu fan isn't sensed. That's just weird that the board would lock up on memory and L2 detection while looking for a cooling fan.
