EPoX 9NPA+SLI wont detect Hard Drive or DVD
I just bought all new components to build a computer, I have the above mentioned motherboard, and ATI AIW 2006 PCI-E video card. 2 512Mb sticks of PC 3200 DDR Ram (400Mz) a New Sony DRU-800A dual layer DVD burner, the only old component is a Western Digital 40Gb hard drive that I know works because it came from a still working PC, and its was purchased last June, now the main problem is that when i power up the system everything is fine except that it doesnt recognize that the hard drive and the DVD are connected. I have used the supplied IDE cables and tried different cables as well, i have even connected an older CDROM as well and it wasnt recognized either, in the BIOS all the IDE Master and Slave are set to auto detect and when i ask them to detect they come up with nothing either, i have tried using the I have tried using the optomized and default values of the BIOS as well. The motherboard sees the PCIE graphics card as well as all the RAM, I am at an impasse as to what to try next to continue, the mobo web site has no releveant info on this please help anyone i cant even load the OS till it recognizes the attached devices

Have you tried each device individually on each IDE channel? Have you set the jumpers on each device to "master" and "slave" as appropriate?

This Is So weird
I Tried switching the jumpers on both the hard drive and the DVD to Cable Select and left them where they were and as soon as i turned on the power they were immediately detected, the notion that the motherborad couldnt see the devices was obvious but to think that the motherboard neeede to decide how it wanted to see them is weird, I meqan I had them both set as master on different IDE channels, Regardless thank you sir for your help |
