Ga-60X....there's no signal over vga....
Hello

I'm trying to solve here some problems with a Gigabyte GA-60X Mainboard.

I plugged in the power supply unit... 64mbytes of the right sort of ram's are in socket 1...

a cpu of the right model was pushed in and a harddisk is plugged on, too...as the master device on ide 0.....

now... I tried it with 2 different agp-graficcards:

- GeForce MX440
- S3 Savage...

well...if i'm pressing the power button... it really works... i can hear the cpu starting, ... the harddisk is rolling on, .....ok...

but i can't even see anything on my monitor....but why...?

there isn't a "beep"-signal that's activated by the mainboard during the boot process if there is a failure...

so...what are my possibilities to solve this problem?????

Are there any typical problems with Gigabyte-Mainboards and the AGP-Slot, that I should know...?

I've just found out...that we haven't got any pci-graphic-adapter in our firm....so...I can't exclude every possibility.... but likely...I'm gonna get one ... this afternoon or next week maybe

just an enhanced information...

The video cards worked on other computers? Check the connectors to the monitor for any bent pins. See if the monitor works on another computer. Maybe your monitor is shot.

everything ist connected clear....I just haven't got a vga-signal,.... but I think the problem could be my agp-adapter on the board...

If everything else is working on that computer, I'd say you could be right. Try another mobo if you can. If that fixes it, you need to replace your board.

have you tried using the cmos jumper, clear the settings, then try and boot up, may just be a bad setting, the motherboard maybe set to boot from pci instead of agp, or vice versa depending on your card. by clearing the cmos settings you put the motherboard in a default state in case of a bad setting, like ram and processor clocking.

oh...ok....

i downloaded certain techn. descriptions about this mainboard... but i couldn't find this jumper...

usually....mainboards are booting and checking automatically.... where a graphiccard could be put in....anyway...

thanks....well ... the task is to repair this mainboard...so it isn't possible to change the mainboard....

you can remove the cmos battery with the power cord disconnected from the power supply, make sure you are grounded to the case, a static electrical discharge on or around the battery will kill the bios chip. remove the battery, leave it out for a few minutes, will achive the same result as a jumper.

well....it didn't actuate any effect on my mainboard....but it just was a try...

i think it's time to put this mainboard in the trash...

some additional information:

I managed to get a PCI-graphic adapter....so I tried to boot my mainboard with these two different settings:
Code:
- pci/agp enabled  ...............and...........
- pci/agp disabled
....I couldn't get some information about this strange function....I've found nothing at google.com about these two settings.....so i had to try both ways.......

well....But it didn't impact anything...nothing has changed....

the same error, yet....

was re-reading your post and noticed something, is there any other ide devices hooked with you hard drive on ide 0? if not set the jumper to cable select or make sure your master supports a single drive. i looked at you link, leave it enabled. also, was goig to look up your motherboard for refference, which model do you have? GA-60XT-a(1.1) or GA-60xm7E(-1) if you let me know i will look over the manuals and tech specs and see what might not be set. for example my motherboard has a jumper for 100mhz and 133 mhz fsb, was set to 100 by default, i run pc2100 ddr 133X2 266 ram

there isn't........the harddisk drive supports single drive and the jumpers are adjusted....
The Switch, where you've gotto set your ram-fsb and your cpu-fsb (front side bus)....

....are in the right order for my combination of ram&cpu...
