GA-7N400PRO Siren?

I have GA-7N400PRO mobo, with AMD Athlon 3000+, 512mb 400 FSB memory, SATA Maxtor 120GB hard drive. When installing Windows XP, I just get to the EULA then the screen goes black and it sounds like an ambulance siren going off in the case. It does not sound like a normal POST beep. Please help?

more info

I am curious, was your system working fine before you attempted to install WinXP or did you build the pc and this is the first time ANY OS is being installed? The siren noise usually indicates overheating. I would open the case up and see if the cpu fan is spinning. As far as getting to the EULA screen and then thats when the siren occurs, that could just be about the same time the cpu is hot enough to send an alert. Let me know what you find out.

That was the problem, I am used to hearing POST beeps. This one caught me off guard. The fan was spinning, but not making good contact with the CPU. Added a little more thermal paste and it's running like nobody's business. Thanks.

Good to hear your back up

I could see where that would throw you for a loop. When I troubleshoot hardware I try to do the right thing and reseat everything, but sometimes I must admit, I skip over some things. The funny thing is when I end up skipping steps I know I should do, that is usually where the problem is found

Some comedian once said......Its like the person who is searching for a missing item like car keys or whatever. They end up finding it in the last place they looked.....But of course the item was found in the last place they looked, because why would anyone continue to look for item they already found. That would be crazy.

Take care and God Bless
