Does anyone know where to get a motherboard for an Hp ze5470us notebook for a good price? I have found one for over $500 and HP wants $216 through them so i am guessing it doesn't cost the $500 whatever site that was is charging. I would have HP repair it but i wouldn't give them another dime of my money.

actually the problem happened from a bios update downloaded from HP's site. when it rebooted after the winflash update, the board went dead and never came back on. everything else, fans, drives, etc... seemed to be getting power. HP claims i need a new board, sound card and ram, but i think they are just feed me a line, as they want $216 to fix all that when everyone wants over $300 just to buy the board, and HP claims it costs about $500 to buy one factory direct. Plus the ram that they claim was ruined as well, wasn't even in the computer at the time of the update. i had upgraded ram and put the stock ram back in just so it wouldn't get "lost" in the repair process. Hp is saying i spilled liquid on it and thats what the problem is. Funny how you can ruin the motherboard and not keyboard by spilling liquid in it. Anyone know of a way to maybe fix the board or reset the bios or something if thats the problem?

I recently bought a non-oem battery for my HP, and the computer would never charge the battery, and the battery optimizer program would only open for a sec and shut down... So of course, I went to HP help site, and went to my model... Well, there was several downloads related to the battery issue - including a Bios update... WEll, needless to say, I did ever update up to the point of the Bios, and still nothing... Then I decided to do the BIOS, and low and behold the windows based bios said it needed to restart. And, I never got my computer to even boot to BIOS again.. So I contacted HP, and they don't understand basic computer things...
They sent me a link to an exe after I explain the situation. Then we went back and forth of me telling them .EXE files need DOS or Windows... Finally a guy told me how to do a manual reset of BIOS on the computer... It was like pressing the power for 30 seconds. Then boot up and hold the power button ten seconds, and then the computer would reboot. Well, that's fine and nice but that didn't do a damn thing... I want anyone who has lost their computer due to a bios update at HP to contact me.. I even asked if they could double check the links supplied on their site, but they just tell me my computer is messed up due to other things!!!! PLEASE DO NOT DO BIOS UPDATES ON HP!!! My computer WAS a HP ze4546sr, Celeron, notebook!! |
