Intel D865GBF Problem

So I've just finished building my system and aside from a couple minor setbacks (Having to wait weeks for graphics card, getting half the ram I paid for) Everything seems to be working fine. Except the sound.

When I plug speakers into my back sound output jack, I get a prompt asking me what I just plugged in.

Speakers.

When I tell it this, It asks me what's in the front panel headphone jack. There's nothing there. Of course, nothing isnt a choice. I can't figure out why, for the life of me, but thats another topic.

I have to choose something, so I choose headphones. It seems like the logical decision. The computer then tells me "Since there is a device in the front panel headphone jack, the sound to your speakers will be muted."

Yeah, that's awesome, except theres NOTHING THERE.

Intel isn't any help at all, either. They wanted to charge me $25.00 to use phone support! (I've emailed about half a dozen times with no response whatsoever.)

Any help would be vastly appreciated.

What operating system? Are you sure you are plugging the speakers into the audio output jacks?

Be sure to double check the front panel connections you made. It is easy to short the pins making the chipset "sense" something that isn't plugged in. The front panel audio leads are clearly marked in your mobo manual.

If nothing, just disconnect the front panel audio leads and see if you can get your speakers working.

Ahh, I had the same problem, I fixed it though.

All I did was take apart the PC, and removed the front panel audio chip!

The manual helped with finding it

I believe you can find the manual somewhere HERE

Good luck! =) Enjoying the audio now
