Intel D865GBF USB Port Issue
Hello all. I've been having some issues regarding the Intel D865GBF series Mboard's USB ports that I was hoping you guys could help with.
Basically, the problem is that certain USB devices, for some reason, lose "connection" to the computer when trying to move files to or from said device. Currently i'm running WinXP Pro with SP2 on it. Whenever I plug the USB device in (the SwissBeat Flash/MP3 player) it detects it normally, and I can explore the archive structure within it with no problem, but whenever (at least 95+% of the time) i try to move files onto or from it, it usually works for a bit, then it "disconnects" itself from the system (xp taskbar removes the icon and all) while giving me either a "cannot find the specified file" or "cyclic redundancy error" (although the later isn't as normal). As far as I can imagine, it's probably a BIOS or Driver problem on the mobo, though I could be wrong. Hope someone can help, thanx for everything! |

Hi GNArcher and welcome to DevShed.
I'm thinking it's a driver problem. Have a look here on the intel downloads for your board and OS. Download no.5 and install it. However, when this has been happening, have you always been connected to the same USB port or have you tried changing them around ?

I did think it could have been because i was using the front USB's and not the Mboard's, and that maybe i had messed up severely during the cable instalation, but same thing happens with the USB ports directly on the Mboard input panel.

Have you installed the mobo drivers that were in the link that I posted ?

Hehehe, I'm at work right now, so can't do that atm. I did however download and install that file yesterday afternoon and it messed up my system big time. It was having serious issues with the vid card (took a while for the video to sync with the monitor then every now and then the signal cut itself for a few seconds), and my lan card also was having driver issues and started showing the limited conectivity icon.
At any rate, i WAS having a few other unrelated system issues pervious to the USB thing, so i decided it would be generally smarter to reformat, which i did; just didnt have the time to update the drivers on the mobo, only reinstalled the OS. I'll try updating them on a fresh install, see how that works out. I'll let you know as i get that done. Thanx for all the help and attention up to now, btw . |

Same thing i said before. Takes a while to sync. Monitor's on but says it's getting no signal during most of the startup process, and every now and then (when arleady in WinXP) the screen goes black for a bit as if it lost signal for a second.

With all these problems, it is possible that you motherboard itself is going faulty. Especially as it's happening with more than one component before and after a re-install of drivers.
