Motherboard beeps but no boot

hey guys, i have 2 different socket 754 motherboards that will not post. they beep (one long beep about 1 or 2 seconds, then a long gap 4 seconds, then beep again). i have connected everything up together, all components are new. does anyone know what im doing wrong.. details are as follows

board 1
winfast k8s
sempron 3000+
512 crucial ddr400 mem
samsung 8 mb 200GB hard drive
onboard graphics
philips dvdrw / cdrw

board 2
elitegroup k8 motherboard
sempron 2600+
512 crucial ddr400 mem
samsung 8 mb 200 gb gard drive
radeon 9250 256mb graphics card
lite - on dvdrw cdrw

i have tried all pieces excluding processors on working systems and they all work.. motherboards (both have been replaced) processors (both have been replaced) and same problems.. im a lil lost for thoughts... any help anyone

this may not apply to your particular boards...but many of the new boards have an ATX power connector to supply power to the CPU... this is a 4 pin connector that is usually near the CPU socket... if this is not connected the system will not boot... if the power supply is not equiped with this connector an adapter is available for older power supplies...

cheers bud but have already done that... admittedly that tripped me up 1st time around but they are connected on both boards main and 4 pin...

fixed it

well, in the end it was faulty memory, both of them... oh well at least it works now. just for future reference.. on award bios, long beeps = faulty memory. hope this helps everyone for the future.
