asus is never a bad choice. as far as the chipset, i really like the nvidia. wasnt really expecting much but it has great bench marks. stable and very fast on games. i was to chicken to try nvidia on my own stuff but bought one for my dad's computer and wish i had gone that way instead of via. i have had alot of trouble with some games being glitchy. the last few sis i have worked on have been a dissapointment. ali is hard to find on the board specs i usually need. mainly depends on what video card you are going to use also. sis, ali, and intel work great with radeon. nvidia does good with via, nvidia, intel, and sis. (atleast in my experience) had some problems using a radeon card on via and nvidia chiset boards.
