Motherboard help

I want to build a new computer, this is my first build. But, I am looking at a motherboard that says its FSB is 800/533 mhz, and others say 1000/800. The board I am looking at is a 800/533 MHZ. I was wondering if that is slow? And, is are Celeron processors slow?

800FSB is fine for current processors, however soon the new processors will require the 1000FSB so a 533/800 FSB is fine for any current system but if you later decide that in a year or two that you want a new CPU you will find that most of the good CPUs are 1000FSB only

and Celerons are slower, they are the same as the higher end CPUs but with a very small cache and slower FSB so even though it might say its a 3Ghz CPU a 2.7Ghz P-4 or even slower can easily beat it because the Celerons are badly choked for bandwidth, IMHO if your buying a CPU, stay away from the Celerons, they are just stripped down CPU so that they can be sold at a high Ghz for a low price, but that low price comes at a somewhat large impact on speed

So if not a Celeron, WHat should I get? I dont think I need an AMD, Because AMD's are extremely fast are are mostly used for gaming. I dont play games on my computer. Mostly web broswing and software programming. Can you suggest a processor for me?

right now the best value is the Intel Core 2 Duo (have the Conroe core) based CPUs, but it just launched 2 days ago and isn't on newegg yet...i think its going on sale tomorrow, other retailers might be taking pre-orders though, it runs with a 1000FSB socket LGA775 on most motherboards (mainly those with the newer chip sets), i would just recommend whatever CPU with that core that fits your budget

Have to agree - if it is within your budget, get a Intel Core 2 Duo.
