Exclamation Motherboard only sees 128MB RAM per slot

Motherboard is an ECS 661GX-M2(V5.0) which according to this page ECS 661GX-M2(V5.0) can accept a maximum of 2Gb of RAM between it's two slots.

It has on module of 256MB DDR400 installed but only sees it as 128MB regardless of which slot it is in. If I install another identical module in the other slot, it sees a total of 256MB.

I tried removing them and installing a Kingston brand module of DDR400 5122MB but still it only saw 128MB.

Window's is seeing the same as the BIOS.

Does anyone have any suggestions please?

Thanks,

pete

I was going to try downloading the manual, but it said it would take 6 hours.

Alright, so go into the BIOS and verify that the FSB speed is correct. Also that you are not using custom memory settings. And lastly, check your video memory allocation. Make sure memory is running at the right speed, etc.

If this doesn't help, post the memory part number, hopefully it is on CMTL. ECS (now Uniwill?) sells proprietary (or branded) memory for this board that is non-ECC, not sure if that means much.

Thanks Tripredacus, will check the things you suggested. Unfortunately the PC is not here at present, so will have to wait until it returns.

Thanks for your advice.
