motherboards that dont boot.

being there are several post in this forum about motherboards that dont boot, i will post a generic reply. i had a new motherboard brought to me today(ecs) they could only get power to fans drives but no video display, i checked over all the connectors ect..... swaped everything , tried different everything. noticed the heatsink and fan looked a bit odd, poped it off and it was on the wrong way around, was not making contact, cleaned off the sticker that comes on it, added some thermal grease, oh happy day, it is alive and well.
