MSI 875p Neo - intersting BIOS problem

Hi there. New user so u'll have to put up with me.

I bought the 875p Neo in September of last year. Now, I've always heard the phrase if somethings fine, don't fix it! When I started up the pc, I got a message saying "No Device Found, BIOS not installed!". But my PC would start up fine :S. Anyway, less of that, I thought, well it works so I wont change it. But as its coming to the end of my warranty, I thought maybe I should just check as apparently fan speed improves with a newer version of my BIOS.

I run liveupdate to get the BIOS 2.1 875p NEO FIS2R. I take it its right, so I flashed... tried through dos and windows.... What happens is then when it restarts, it goes to the American Megatrends BIOS and gives me a message saying "CMOS settings wrong!". The pc then refuses to start. However, if I go into the settings by pressing del, and just come straight back out, the pc restarts as normal saying BIOS not installed again. However this time, on diagnostics programs it says I am still running the v2.1 BIOS......

I have no idea whats going on, but is it something to replace the board over? Or something i'm doing? I have pictures of everything Ive spoken about if you need them. I also caught a message that flashed up saying BIOS version SATA378 TX2 1.00.1030.26.

Cheers =)

Josh

I think that message is from the onboard RAID controller, which you should be able to turn off in BIOS. I have the 865 Neo2 at home, which gives the same message, I'll try turning off the RAID after work and see if that solves things.
As for the failed flash, be sure to read the manual to do it right.

DVD drive detection problem

Hi,

I also have the same "bios not installed" problem. Before expiring my warranty i sent the pc back to the store and it came back with the same problem.

I'm having some problems with my board now. I have an IDE primary drive, from which i boot, and a DVD and CD IDE drives. On my bios i had P-ATA only configured.

I recently bought a SATA disc, connected it to the 1st SATA port, and changed bios configuration to P-ATA + S-ATA. The new and old discs are detected, but the DVD and CD drives aren't.

What could it be the problem?

Thanks.
