Angry New A7N8X-X wont post... help me please 1337 forum members.

ok, heres the story.

i just bought a new A7N8X-X mother board.

i have amd athlon 2600xp
1gig ram
2 hdd's
2 dvd burners
geforce 4 vid.
etc.

Now i plugged in everything right (i double and triple checked) and i turn it on and the cpu fan spins, as does the chasis fan. THe computer then turns off. No beeps, no screen nothing.

it makes a noise much quieter than usual so i guessed that it was my power supply not working (i dont think its fan was spinning).

My dad tried to be the hero and was "TESTING" the power supply and he did somthing and it blew.

2 questions.

if the powersupply blew will my board etc be dead

and 2: why the hell wont it boot!

id prefer answers to 2 mainly

1: Maybe. Blowing the psu can potentially damage the stuff attached to it, but its not a sure thing, you might be ok.

2: Sounds like it might have been the psu, have you tried now with a new one? Check the case front panel connections. Then strip down to the basic necesities (1ram, 1hdd, video) and see if it works then. If it doesn't, try other parts, and attach them in different positions (ide channels, ram slots, etc). If none of that works, its most likely the mobo or cpu. Test the cpu in a different board if you can, or a different cpu in this board. PC trouble shooting is slowly eliminating potential problems until whats left must be the cause.

similiar thing happens to my dad's a7v600 or some shiz like that, where it starts, then comes to a blank screen and seems to hang for like 4 seconds, then continues on. it seems like the computer shiz's itself.
