new cpu /mobo not booting

just got a xp 2600 cpu and a xfx mobo 512 ram..
put all together it starts up power at fan on cpu. leds..
can hear hardrive spin up then it just hangs nothing .. monitor shows no vid signal... what do you think cpu mobo prob?.. tried vid card in another comp works fine..
if it boots to the bios would that indicate cpu prob?
im just trying to elimante either as the problem.. is the only way to really tell to place each of the suspected parts in known working units?? any suggestions appreciated,thks

Yuo have not been very specific about the components, but the best bet is to try everything seperately with known working components to try and elimate them one by one. Is the 2600 266fsb or 333fsb? If 333 is your RMA also 333 - if not it won't work.
