no boot...just power help!

im building a new computer
i have ECS k7vta3 motherboard with
xp2200 1.8 ghz processor
and kingston PC2100 256mb DDR

i setted everything correctly and checked jumpers...wires etc
i also checked jumpers several times for clock speed and BIOS

so i turned computer on and fans and hard drive seems to be running but i dont get any signal from speaker or monitor

basically it turns on and nothing appears...

can please somebody help me?

i got all these devices from ebay and motherboard was in factory sealed box but processor and memory was in retail box

i tried resetting CMOS and it didnt work
i guess it may be the video card since i tried to pull off a heat sink that was bonded into GPU
but im not sure becuase i only tried lil bit...and
if the video card is causing the problem...should the hard drive run like normally do?(making all that noises and stuff) because it starts and runs for sec and doesnt do anything
and could it be the processor? if not what would appear or happen if the processor is dead

Did you try a different vid card? Is it an older one? There has been some issues with older vid cards and voltage. What about connecting an external speaker to audio card? Maybe speaker is bad? Did you reseat the memory and is it the correct kind?
Can you get to bios and check the settings there?

Phil

Cpu

Hey, I've had the same problem in two different situations... The first time my motherboard was somehow discharging into the case, I fixed this by putting some card board in between the motherboard and the case. Something like the top of a coke 12-pack box would be fine.

The other situation is my fan was place ontop if my cpu in correctly... I'm not sure what it was doing but it wouldn't let me do anything... lights on but no go hope this helps.

Thumbs up Got it

Well,

I have a fried CPU. Weird that NO beep codes - even if no CPU present I thought it should do SOMETHING...but hey, what do I know?
I replaced the CPU and boom, she booted - single beep code.

Phil
