No Boot, No Graphics Signal
Hi all, I've got one of those really frustrating problems.
I swapped out a motherboard and chip on my main PC a couple of weeks ago and it has been working fine until a few days ago. I went to turn it on, fans spun, lights flashed but no graphics signal to the monitor. Consistently now this is what happens. I pulled everything bar a single RAM stick and the graphics card. Still no signal. I have tried all the components bar the board in a spare computer and they work fine. So this is a board issue. I have reseated all the components to ensure that it is not just a bad connection, but to no avail. I tried resetting the CMOS using the jumpers on the board and as if by magic the bios appears on the screen. No here comes the annoying bit. As soon as the machine is restarted in any way, I'm back to square one. No Boot, No graphics signal, just lights and fans. Anybody got any ideas, because I'm all out of them. Thanks, Steve |

Hi all, Thanks for the interest. The board (an ECS KV2 Extreme) is about 2 weeks old now, so I would hope it's battery is ok, but I know that this it's not one of the newest boards on the market by a long way. So it could have gone flat while in some warehouse somewhere. I think that updating the bios is the way to go, but with no graphics signal to run a bios update from the floppy how would I go about this? I'm stumpped. Thanks again, Steve |

you said it boots right after your clear it, so then clear it and then flash it right away
[edit] since you say its only 2 weeks old, you can probably RMA it and get it replaced saying its defective if you can't make it work Last edited by edman007 : July 26th, 2006 at 06:07 AM. |
