Question no boot, no POST, no idea

I'm running a Soyo K7 ADA mobo with an Athlon XP 1700 chip and 768MB RAM. Everything has been running fine for about a year now. All of the sudden, I'm getting nothing.

No POST beep.
No error beeps.

Fans, CD drives, and HDDs are all powering up and running.
I've tried disconnecting everything except for the video card - still no beeps.
I've tried working with just one stick of RAM - nothing.

My fear is that the mobo or processor is shot. I just hope it's the motherboard and not the processor.

Any ideas? How can I determine which it is?

Thanks in advance,
stuboo

Try a different processor in the same mobo, and the same processor in a different mobo. If one works, you'll know what the problem is.

Have you changed a BIOS setting recently? If so, you might be able to get it back by removing the CMOS battery, shorting it and the putting the battery back (this sets all BIOS settings to default)

Look, I had the same problem this week and I thought it was a Mobo problem, so I bought a new one. The same hapenned with the new mobo, so I then thought it was a memory or Processor problem.

Not at all. Sometimes the PSU does not die, and insted brings power to the mobo, drives, fans, but not enough to turn the computer on. So I changed the PSU , and voilá, everything started again.

As I'm lucky, I was able to change the new mobo back for the money.

Hope it works for you!!!!!!!!!

Keep me informed!!

Good luck.
