No POST no beeps
Ok my new PC parts came in a few days ago and I assembeled it. When I went to turn it on, the memory lights would light up, the fans would start spining but there would be nothing on the screen, and there were no beeps. So I tried it with one stick on RAM, I even took out all the RAM to see if it would beep, it didn't. Then I took out the battery in the motherboard and it started working. Then it booted up to the screen in windows vista where there are bars going across the screen(I am using the HDD from the PC I am using right now so I know windows woudnt actually start).
So at this point it decided to restart it self and the same problem came back. Then I took out the mattery in the motherboars again but now it woudn't solve the problem. I even left it out a whole night. Any help would be appreciated. My system specs are: CPU: Core 2 Duo E6400(B2 stepping) Mobo: Gigabyte GA-965P-DS3 Rev 3.3 RAM: Crucial Ballistix Tracer PC2-8000 Video Card: XFX 8500 GT Power supply: Ultra XVS Modular 700 Watts HDD: Western Digital Dvd Drive: Lite on Dvd burner |

i think there is a faulty connection somewhere.
remove any add-on cards. if you dont have a onboard video, keep the video card and remove everything else. else remove the video card and connect the monitor to the onboard graphics port remove the processor, and reseat it. remove the ram, if you have access to another PC, try the ram on that first. make sure the ram is ok. then reseat the ram. remove all IDE / SATA cables to the motherboard check all connected connections. then try. the system should boot, and then say "boot failure" or something to that effect. post the results, then we can go about to cennecting up the other devices. I tried it out of the case with only one stick of RAM, no drives. I did reseat the CPU, and only had the video card in(no onboard video). The memory lit up, although what was weird was that the memory lights on top lit up as well. This doesnt usually happen, its only supposed to happen when memory is actually being used. I guess that means the computer was doing SOMETHING.

try the RAM sticks in another PC, i think they are somehow malfunctioning.
if you dont have another PC, or access to one, get another stick of RAM that is compatible, and try that on this PC. Ark! |
