Old Intel Pentium MMX board, power switch issue...
All right, I picked up an old Bell Howell PC some while ago and while the PC runs fine, I do have a small power switch issue I'd like to get fixed if possible. Simply put, the power switch does not work and the only way to power the system on is by plugging it in. I managed to hook it up to a power strip so all I have to do is flip the switch on the power strip.
As for the nitty gritty, the motherboard, from what I have been able to dig up, is an Intel RU430HX. Old AT style with a daughter board which has all the expansion slots. I have downloaded the pdf manuals for the board and while they have been somewhat helpful, they have not really helped me resolve the issue. The wires leading from the original power switch have basically been cut off and just sit in the case. I tried temporarily rewiring (just twisted the wires without soldering) it and running some leads to the pins on the motherboard designated for the power switch, but nothing happens. I plug it in and it runs like normal...power switch doesn't do a thing. Am I overlooking something? Anyone out there have any possible ideas?
I will say I did manage to go out and buy some wire and a few switches (one for power and one for reset) in hopes of redoing it to make it work.
So if anyone has any ideas I'd really appreciate it. Thanks.
