p4c800-E deluxe problem =/

Hi guys, im obviously new to this site, so a good first impression would be nice ... anyways i recently ordered a x800 pro with my asus p4c800e mobo. It seems that something has gone terrible wrong. It lets me install the drivers from the cd and or website however when i restart for the changes to take affect it takes me to the the safe mode option screen where the only way to continue is to select the "Last known goog configuration" So i went on thinking nothing of it and install the OMEGA drivers, which many know do the same things with more tools and control of your card. It seems that my mobo is reading my agp slot as a pci, I come to this conclusion because in device manager it says it, "PCI bus 1, device 0, function 0" and when i try to change it in SMARTGART, this is what allows you to edit your AGP _X. When i do change it and restart it magically appears back to off, i cant seem to get this to work, ive pretty much updated all bios and drivers, any help would be greatly appreciated .. Thanks.
specs just for reference.

i did contact asus for the issue, the card works in my old computer at AGP 4X with the original drivers from the cd, but the technical support is almost a joke, takes so long i figured i would take a stab at it here to see if anyone had a similar problem, or knows how to fix it, its bothering me that spending 375 for a x800 pro and only get 70 fps in CS:Source only using 2x AA and 8x anistropic, however whether i put everything maxxed out fps only drop to 65 so there isnt too much of a diff.

this will probolbly sounds stupid but when u say cats, you mean people or is that a technical term for something im obviously unaware of

catalysts drivers, they offical ATI drivers. If you haven't solved your problem, and ATi isn't helping, drop over DevH, lots of smart people there.DevHardware

Thats a very popular mobo, so someone will hopefully know.
