reccomendation on motherboard
Hi,
I need a reccomendation on a good quality, cheapish motherboard with onboard raid (preferably raid 5). I don't mind if its onboard SATA or PATA, PATA preferred though. Needs to have onboard network and onboard graphics and take an Athlon XP 1900+ processor. Also needs to take normal DDR ram. This is just for a small file server so other than that it isn't too important. If you could possibly suggest a good but cheap ( ) PCI RAID card that supports RAID5 that would also be nice.I'm looking to run Fedora RC3 on it too if that helps and I don't mind having an extra boot drive if needed. computer |

yeah. raid 5 is pretty important as that's my main upgrade to my server (just got 2 more hdds, so I now have 4x 200Gbs). ATM I just have 2 older ones running RAID1. The new ones are pretty much the same so I want to put them into my server and upgrade the mobo too.

well if you want RAID 5 then you will have to buy an PCI card. What abou Raid 0+1?

RAID 0+1 is really a waste of 2 drives, with RAID 5 I really only 'waste' 1.
I will look into a PCI card, but I can't find any good priced ones ![]() |
