Resoldering a compnent on a Dell Inspiron 1100

Hi,

I have a Dell Inspiron 1100. I have recently unsoldered the headphone jack from the motherboard. I do plan to use 'ColdHeat' to do this.

But, I've been reading various articals across the internet and I've seen stuff about desoldering, do I have to desolder the compent and then resolder it?

Also, is there any good tutorials (with LOTS of pictures) about soldering?

T.I.A. (Thanks In Advance)

I'm confused. Have you already desoldered the jack, or not? Why are you planning to do this?
Google will have tutorials

I have not already desoldered the jack... I was confused when saying 'unsolder,' I ment 'it came loose.'

fix it

if it came loose then go to radioshack and buy a desolder gun and a solder gun or iron, then use the desolder iron to remove the solder outta the holes the jack used to be in on the motherboard. Then put the new part(or old part) in place and with the soldering iron put new solder on the backside of the motherbaord to hold headphones jack in place. Its pretty simple to solder juss need a steady heand especially with laptops.
