Question Sata disk instllation

Hi, i am trying to install my new SATA disks (1WDD 74gb + 1 Seagate 400gb), but i have read so many different stories about this now so i am all confused.

From what i can understand, "Raid" is to mirror stuff between disks etc, and this is not something i am interested in doing. All i want to do, is to get these babies going as fast as possible =150mb/s.

The golden questions i have then is:

1: Should it say RAID, or IDE in Bios (Actually on 2 places)

2: Should i hit F6 when installing XP to load drivers if i use the case above?

I have installed it, without F6, and when i start the computer i can see he is calling my disk xxx ATA-100....so i hope you guys can confirm F6 will do the thing, and also my question #1..

Thanks SO MUCH for your help!!
Kind rgds,
Mats

Getting SATA to work - 2 experiences to-date

My experience on two systems to-date:
1) Intel 875P Mobo (Abit IC7-MaxII Advance)/P43.0c/dual -sata RAID (one pair 0, on pair 1)
2) AMD 939(ASUS A8V Deluxe)/AMD 3800+ no-raid 300GB Sata

is that in ALL cases you must load the F6 drivers; even IF THEY SAY they are for RAID only... I just (tonight) got my AMD system installed successfully with XP by just copying the RAID drivers to floppy and then using F6 to load them during Windows Setup... I just didn't set them up as RAID... once I did the drivers/setup/F6 thing, all worked well in BOTH cases...

enjoy

SATA vs RAID setup

I think I have this figured out as I struggled in the beginning setting up as RAID. If you don't want to use RAID then disable in BIOS. But you should make sure to enable at least two SATA controllers. If this works right you will see your hard drives show up on the first BIOS page and then I'm guessing it will work right after that. If not I defer to TheWags comments.
