Smoke coming from power port
HI ..
i have dell ispiron which had been giving me trouble with charging..i had to plug the power cable in the laptop and then twist it around to get it in a right spot where it would charge...
been going on for a week and then one day smoke started coming out of the power socket ( inside the laptop). i haevnt tried putting the cable in and twisting it again ...dont know it its gonna work ..

Qs is ....can this be repaired ..wouldnt it be some sorta short circuiting inside the mother board? if so any idea as to how much it would cost to get it repaired?
can i somehow get my data retrieved ? my lap top was not chraged at all when this happened , so cant even start it .

You would need to contact Dell to find out how much it would cost to repair. It probably is repairable, but might not worth the cost.

Your data is probably recoverable though.

What I wouldn't do is plug it in again.

I think Dell (or a 3rd party) makes compatible external battery chargers...may be a cheaper alternative to replacing the onboard adapter/charger...
