Something wrong with it (possibly)
i am really really sorry for posting in the wrong topic (i think) but i didnt know where to put it..
there is something wrong with my pc so i assume it has to be motherboard? Anyways up until last night everything was fine, i woke up and found pc had shut down (i think i woke up when pc shut down but since i was sleepy i ignored it). When i woke up i saw that pc had shut down and when i turned it on it kept turning off after few seconds.. So i opened up the case and i decided to clear the dust from the processor fan and it took me a while and after that pc turned on but just now (night time) it decided to do the same thing. So i opened it up and this time i decided to open up the other fan (which is situated on the power supply unit/PSU) and i cleaned it and now pc is working fine.. My thoughts are that i THINK its not the dust that counted its the time elapsed since problem occured? oh and i have checked the connections as best as i can.. |

Make sure all the wires are out of the way of the fans too. I had a wire fall into the cpu fan and caused it to stop. My computer shut down instead of overheating. This may not be obvious once you open the case up and stick your hands inside. Make sure all cables are securely tied up away from the fans.

oh ok .. could be HOWEVER why wont the wires get cut if they go in the fan? or is fan not strong enough??
(thanks again for your reply) it happened again today.. as soon as it happened i took the cover off (it wasnt screwed in, is just laying on top of my pc) and the wires were NOT near the fan.. Last edited by paulh1983 : February 11th, 2008 at 05:03 PM. |
