sound card problem

hi all!
I have one computer with intergrated sound card. Last week, I bought a combo CD-RW/DVD. The sound plays well with the CD and VCD but it doesn't work When I play DVD. My motherboad doesn't have SPD... only have a port for CD, it calls CD1. Can you guys hep me out with this problem. Thank you so much.

?(We don't know about your board, your OS. Then How we know this?)

What kind of DVD are you playing? You may need particular CODEC for this.

If the problem is lack of sound, it is almost certainly a codec issue. Installing powerdvd or similar dvd specific viewer will probably solve it, or you can try to find the codec as a standalone.
