SuperMicro X7DA3+ hangs AFTER post.
I just build a new server for work. SuperMicro X7DA3+ mobo, 2 Intel E5410 Xeons, 8 Gigs Wintek ram, 4 500 GB Seagates, Areca 1200 RAID card ect.... Not a bad setup in my eyes, although, the BIOS that came loaded on the mobo doesn't support the E5410. I need to flash the newest revision, but without the mobo supporting the Xeon E5410, it wont boot from ANYTHING. I have a bootable USB KEY ready to go with the BIOS flash utility on it. The mobo will post, i can get into BIOS setup, but it will not go any further than that. Blank screen after POST. This is a very time sensitive problem. Software guys are here tomorrow and through the weekend to get this up and running.
So far, my option is to buy a new E5310 from NewEgg w/ overnight shipping, use it for 10 min to flash the bios then get a RMA and return. (Their return policy on CPUs is great) I talked to SuperMicro yesterday and they offered no help. Said they would send me a new bios chip after getting an RMA, and PAYING for it. This is not my problem. Theirs. Dint like their option.
So, does anyone else have any clever ideas on how to flash a bios on a mobo that wont boot? One of the techs I talked to at SuperMicro said that the mobo is likely hanging up at the CPU bus start-up because of the compatibility issues. Thanks for reading and helping in any way. Cheers.
