Tyan M2466 - 4m motherboard will not post

All,

I (probably stupidly) purchased a set of AMD MP1900+ processors, a 1 GB stick of registered ecc and the above motherboard on EBay.

I put it all together, and attached power supply and hard disk from my current computer, as well as an old AGP card I had lying about and my USB keyboard and mouse. I then switched on the power, in the vain hope of it posting.

The CPU fans started up, but nothing else. No beeps, the hard disk did not whir, nothing.

According to the manual there should at least be some beeps to indicate what is wrong. I heard nothing (is there a buzzer on the board?)

Any idea what the problem could be? I do not want to replace the components one by one until it works, if the only problem may be a stupid mistake on my part!

Thks!

(^^;?(Have you attached a system speaker?)

And take it into pieces once, then construct it up to minimum boot-only possible by floppy.

just got system speaker

Finally managed to get hold of a system speaker, and put the whole she-bang back together again. Still nothing.

I have tied another stick of RAM, a known working processor, a known good HD, Known good graphics card.

The board has power (all the CPUs get warm!) and all the fans start up, but there is not a single peep from the speaker (it works, I checked) and the HD does not even wind up. The monitor stays asleep.

Any ideas?

I'm no expert, but it sounds like a faulty motherboard!

i recently had the same problem

recently came across the same issue as you. i know it sounds stupid but on ur motherboard are there 2 power inlets? more recent motherboards have the usual 20 pin power inlet and another 4 pin power inlet.. both must be attached to the power supply as they are both needed to fully supply the motherboard and peripherals with power... hope this helps
