What is this ring that came with my motherboard?
I just bought a new motherboard, and it came with a strange metallic ring. It can fit on my finger. I thought it was for anti-static or something like that, but after having it on my finger for ten minutes I felt sick, like I got dosed with radiation. Can anyone tell me what this ring is for?
I have the Gigabyte GA-M59SLI-S5. mosimu |

Might it be part of that thermal heatpipe distribution system?

whats are its color and dimensions? if its solid copper then its probably part of the heat pipe system as medialint suggested, if its black and kinda like a magnet, then its probably a ferrite core for a inductor, check and make sure its not missing anything
also where did this come from? was it bagged or just kinda sitting there? as for making you sick, well its not radioactive, i suppose if its copper it can make you sick as some people are allergic to it (but i think it normally only causes your skin to turn green after hours of prolonged contact)
