'What not to purchase'

Recommending certain brands and/or models of motherboard is always debatable and depends on a lot of variables, but usually most people agree on what you shouldn't use.

Does anyone know if there is a list of 'what not to purchase' for motherboards?

e.g. Don't buy anything on this list because they: are unreliable, are unsupported, are misrepresented, won't work with xyz O.S., won't fit standard case, don't work with standard xyz peripheral, sends your personal details to Billy-boy, charges you by the hour, rapes your goldfish or whatever else...

...or at least a 'best avoided' list.

Even if a list was started here... it would hopefully save some people from making bad purchases.

PC Chips and Biostar need to die a horrible death as far as I'm concerned. I built four "cheap" pc's for clients once using Biostar........three were dead < 6 months......one lasted a year. Never again.

Asus has been serving me well the past few years while I have continually rebuilt my ever morphing home PC. I use it for rather demanding tasks (audio recording, 3D rendering, etc.)

Cool re-buying hardware

my advice is to be warned first,go ask your friends what is good or check online, there is so much garbage on the market now and you have to be very careful as companies are making unreal claims about their products. No one brand in particular is the best, ever maker sells poor performing boards and CPU.Before you buy anything see if the company will support the product,They all say they do but when you have problems they dont want to know about it.Try sending an email to any of the big companies and you will see what I mean.
