Won't boot, won't post... compatibility problem? L4VXA2 w/2.5ghz Celeron D 325

I have recently put together an ECS L4VXA2 motherboard with a 2.5 Celeron D 325 CPU and one stick of 512 2700 DDR RAM. Everything seems to fit and be seated properly, but the computer does not boot. I checked the power, all the fans seem to be on when I turn it on, and the hard drive spins up just fine. The motherboard is P4 compatible, but isn't Celeron D a whole different family from the P4? It's 478 pin and 533mhz font bus (and those are supported by the motherboard), can something as simple as Celeron D/P4 difference cause the motherboard not to boot?

As a test, I opened up the case, powered it on, and put my thumb up to the processor without the heat sink (yes, I know the danger of this, and it was a very quick test)... the processor never got warm. It stayed at a cool temperature. For some reason, the processor is not running. It does not appear damaged and was seated firmly in it's slot. The RAM was firmly seated, and I tried resetting the bios and doing a few other things... nada. No beeps, no signal to the monitor.

So, that just leads me to think, and I can't find any information... does Celeron D and P4 differ enough for it to cause a compatibility problem here?

Any help would be appreciated, although I'm probably going back tomorrow. Thanks.

If the board don't say that is made for that processor than even know it has says it supports 533bus it may not support that its a celeron D. If there is anyway you can get a P4 just to try on it I would.

L4vxa2 Motherboard

The L4vxa2 motherboard will not support the heater, ie: celeron d Prescott core celeron CPU's. It will only support Willamette and Northwood cores.

This is not a compatibility problem. This board is just old enough that it was never desiged to handle Celeron D's.

Wink Lv4vxa2 Motherboard Boot Problem Solved

I to have a ECS L4VXA2 motherboard that was giving me fits i tried everything except this and it works. You must know how to get around in the bios setup options.

1. press DEL on start up go to setup utility
2. goto Option Advanced Chip Set Features
set DRAM CLOCK to SPD
set DRAM TIMING to MANUAL the computer will fill in all
the blanks.
Page 33 in the Mb Manual
3. goto option Frequency/Voltage Control
here i changed the CPU Ratio either 102 or 104 which ever
works on your system.
Page 48 in the MB Manual

4. press ESC goto Main Setup Menu press F10 Save to Cmos.

Good luck hope it works for you it did for me.

Speedbump
