"CMOS settings wrong" ??
When I got home from work, my computer had shut down. We'd had some thunderstorm that day.
When trying to reboot it takes a while and then a screen comes up where I can choose to enter BIOS setup, flash bios etc. It also says "wrong CMOS settings". I've tried to clear the settings by using the JBAT jumper, but it doesn't help. If I try to make a change in BIOS and saves that, I don't get anything the next time I turn it on. My motherboard is a MSI kt6 6590ver2 Does anyone have a clue what might be wrong. Is the motherboard broke or is it just a settings problem, and in that case how do I make it to save the changes I make? Update I have bought a new PSU and a new battery for the motherboard. Installed them both physically, but it's still the same result. Now I've tried everything but the CPU and the motherboard so one of these must be broke. |

If the battery didn't solve it, your BIOS chip may be corrupt. You can see if a local repair place can put in a new one, which might solve the problem. Else, try the cpu in a friend's motherboard if you can, to see where the problem is.
