0x80004005 ConnectionRead (recv()) error

has anyone encountered this error? how did you fix this? i thought it was related to connection timeout, but i had increased the timeout allotted time, but still, it didn't work. thanks in advance.

Error Type:
Microsoft OLE DB Provider for ODBC Drivers (0x80004005)
[Microsoft][ODBC SQL Server Driver][DBNETLIB]ConnectionRead (recv()).
