Configuring & Connecting to MSSQL Server

this time i am actually not developing, but i need to connect a software to a MSSQL Server. the default way i connect to the server using MSSQL Management studio seems to be Windows Authentication and i dont need to choose a Username/Password. so with this SW, how do i connect? i used the currently logged in (admin) username & password and it fails. i guess i need to configure somethings?

btw, how do you configure MSSQL Server? the default way, i dont have to enter any passwords, how isit secure?

Hello,

What is your SQL Server version? "sa" is the default user, and you should setup the security settings when install the server. For SQL 2008 you could check here - http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms143219.aspx

Regards
