Connection through Dreamweaver issue

I have not attempted to connect to MS SQL (SQL Server2000) in quite some time, having done two years worth of projects with MySQL. I have had the remote server tech set up the database on the server I am using to develop for the client, and to set up a DSN for this database. I am using Dreamweaver MX 2004 to speed my development process, and the site will be written in ASP.

Herein lies the probem. I am not anywhere that I can see how he set up the database, so this may be his problem or mine...and I am looking for a solution either way. I can connect to the server and see the various DSNs he has placed there. When I select the DSN appointed for me and click' test' to test the connection it appears to connect just fine. But when I attempt to create a recordset or expand the database tree I am told that I cannot retrieve tables!! There is sample data in the database for every field, but I cannot see any of it!

Do I need to adjust something on my end, or does the server tech need to look at permissions, etc.

not sure what more I need to tell you to clear any of this up, so please ask and I will provide you with whatever information I have.
