Exclamation Installing MS SQL 2000 on XP?

Hi all.

I need some help, does anyone know about a good tutorial on how to install MS SQL 2000 on WinXP Pro?
I've heard both that it is possible and that it is not possible, but i am willing to change to Win 2000 Server if needed, i just need a good guide/tutorial to do so, cause so far, i've installed it and seems like i just have the 'client' capabilities, but i wanna serv my databases at home =P.

Thanks in advance

just install it on a test server...
but if can try win2003 it will boost your I/O by 30% without any setting.

Thanks for your reply sypher, but i need more detailed info on what else i need to set up after installing the application, cause it seems like it only allows accessing to databases, not serving them. Do you know where I can find info on this?
thank you

I believe the only version of SQL you can install on XP Pro is the developer version. I would suggest running it on Win2K3 so that you can install the enterprise version, if you are wanting to use it for learning purposes.

NEVER use the ip directly, should only be used as a last resort
This way if you change your server you don't have to re-compile ALL of your applications

use the Server Name has much as possible.
