Integrating InfoPath With SQL

Hi all,

I have a quick question regarding the integration of InfoPath with SQL. If I design a from in InfoPath with the backend data dump being SQL, does every person that wishes to use that form have to use InfoPath to edit it, or can it be used as a type of web interface? And then can that web form possibly take an input (customer name or something), and pull all of the relevant data regarding a customer out?
