Hi pabloj and all others who tried helping me...
I tried a few things and one of them worked!! pabloj...i wasn't necessarily trying to use DTS...had tried it before but wasn't specifying the data source right!! The solution is actually very simple...import the .dat file exactly as you would had it been a text (flat) file. But there was a catch even to this one 'cuz my file had columns that could be identified only via their respective positions and this problem got solved while solving the first problem of choosing the data source. Choose the data source type as fixed fields, then it automatically previews the column values as in the .dat file and all you need to do is specify the columns!! As simple as that!! And do the necessary transforms in order to get the column names right instead of col01, col02, etc. ![]() Last edited by g_janhavi : March 15th, 2004 at 03:40 AM. Reason: Closing problem |
