SQL & T-SQL

Hi,

Is there much of a difference between Transact-SQl and std SQL? From what I have seen it looks as though T-SQL is a SQL SERVER thing and has probably got a few more features than std.
Plkease can someone calrify for me?

Cheers

yes, you understand the situation quite well

transact-sql includes a lot of standard sql, omits some of it, and has many proprietary extensions

cool, thats nice to know. I have one more little question:
From what I have seen/heard the MS SQL Server Reporting tool only came out in Jan 2004. Do the majority of SQL Server users do reporting with this tool?

And thanks for your help on the previous question.

i have no idea, you'd have to ask them

but i suspect that they don't simply because it would mean that a majority of them just totally abandoned whatever reporting they were using before it came out, and rewrote it all

most organizations using sql server that i've known are too busy doing other work to bother rewriting stuff that already works

we currently do not use the MS SQL reporting tool, because we currently have no need for it. I assume that eventually we will begin to use its features in some future applications however
