12ms response time good enough?

I'm looking at buying a LCD and I will be using it for gaming quite a bit which i know you need a pretty fast response time or else you get trailing on teh screen. I play games like

Prince of Persia warrior within
farcry
starwars battlefront

so pretty high end 3d rendition and I'm looking at getting a 19 inch because hey 19 is the way to go, but its hard to find a 19 inch with a response time at 8 ms or 10 ms. I have no frame of reference for this and have only found a view sonic at 8 ms but it's over 500 dollars which is too much, i can find 12 ms for around 300 which is more along the lines of what i want to pay.
