this has to be one of my worst experiences with upgrading computers, i have a 6 months old Dell 2400 system intle 845G 2.3ghz chipset, 256mb PC2700 DDR memory, 64 dedicated onboard AGP intel xtreme Graphics.purchased an ATI 9200se PCI card having seen the performance and liked it alot. The trouble is, i've installed the Card in the PCI slot and turn my machine on and waited....and waited....and....nafin...monitor didnt even flicker. this was about 3 weeks ago and since have had 4 replacements...noafins happenin, if i use the AGP chip(with the driver installed) windows loads but still cant install the ATI drivers because i get the message 'No ATI hardware Found unable to install Drivers' is this Card not accepted by my motherboard, is there something i havent done? Dell are about as usefull as a chocolate kettle, and i'm not really willing to phone asia to speek to ATI... please help me |

You need to disable the onboard graphics before you can use the card. (in device manager)

weird, u should be able to run windows w/o the card at all and install the drivers for it first (that's what i did with a 9200 on my 4-yr old dell PIII 600Mhz
) have you tried a different PCI slot? maybe there's a conflict with another device? it should be compatible if the 9200 was compatible with my old motherboard. just make sure the vga connection is working and try installing the drivers again first. |

I mean, come on, This thing should just slot into an empty pci slot and windows will recognise it....but y isnt it?
should i format my hard drive n start installing xp?but being as i dont get n ething from the monitor in post b4 windows loads i doubt it will work its either a bad batch of cards or my motherboard doesnt like the card |

I had the same problem. Once I inserted the card into the PCI slot and connected everything the monitor just would not go on. To get it working you need to use the old graphics card which it did work on and change the BIOS settings. On mine i went into the Intergrated Periphals then the Initial Display Device and made sure it was set to PCI slot rather than AGP. Restarted my computer then connected the monitor to my Radeon Card...sorted ! Also a brief note if it still doesnt work then try another PCI Slot because my card only works on 1 and not the other 2.

Hi Blackthunder566 and welcome to DevShed.
Is it seated correctly, are all cables properly connected ? If you previously had on-board graphics, did you enter the BIOS and disable it ?? |

Hmm this is weird i just installed a radeon 9250, onboard graphics were uninstalled before inserting it the when inserted just swapped the cables to the card and got signal right away. make sure VGA cables is properly secured and as aitken325i says card seated correctly
