ATI Radeon Xpress 200M & Second Life
Was wanting to put this out there, and hopefully get a solution to this problem. I recently got a new laptop that has a ATI Radeon Express 200M (mobile) 128mb.
It works fin with several of my games, but I recently began playing Second Life, and I've read there are alot of compatibility problems between Second Life game and ATI graphics cards in general due to a.. I believe it was the way they handle OpenGL.
What happens, when I play the game I'm lucky to get 2.0 FPS in game play, which for anyone that knows.. is VERY slow. I've crossed out all other possibilities of the cause for this except for the ATI card, which everyone else says that is the problem.
Now I've tryed several things to get this to work, I've tryed Windows Drivers for the card, no go, tryed ones from ATI directly, and the Catalyst pack. Uninstalled everything before applying each new drivers. I also tryed the Third Party Drivers called the Omegas, which everyone reports that has fixed their problems with running Second Life with an ATI card.
Would anyone else happen to share this problem, or possibly have any ideas on how I may resolve this extremely low FPS?
I've alsoset everything on Second Life to a bare minimum, including once in game, use the Debug mode to turn bout everything off. I've also set my ATI cards setting to all performance to help with the problem, but since it's not working on Second Life it's as if I don't even have a Graphics Card running the game.
Thanks ahead of time for any ideas and replays.
