camcorder 2 pc Best method

whats the best and easiest way to connect camcorder to pc. usb, sound card and capture card. and if so whats the best type. also whats the best (plus ease of use) video editing software. my intentions are to make my own home dvds with menus and chapters.......any ideals

There isn't a "best" way. There are many ways and it really depends on the harware you have. What type of harware do you exactly have?

my video camera has a s-video connector only its analogue not digital. i havent got a capture card or sound card yet

Look into a Pinnacle capture card. They have RCA, S-video and firewire inputs and come with decent software for editting and they go for about $100. You can get them for less if you look for a sale.

I would avoid the USB capture devices like Dazzle because they drop frames.
