Can I run AGP 16X video card on my system?
Hello,
I currently have an MSI GeForce TI 4200 AGP 8X/128 Mb DDR Video card installed on my system and I wish to upgrade. Price and performance has led me to the GeForce 6800 GT (NV40 chipset) which has the AGP 16X rating (my card has AGP 8X). I would like to know if this will run properly on my system or will it be overstretching it a little? Looking forward to hearing from you. The 16x is a PCI express thing. It isn't AGP at all. If your current card is agp, you won't be able to use a PCI express card, you need a new motherboard. However, the 6800GT also comes in an 8x AGP version, which would work on your computer.
